A review of Sanctuary Housing Association by Ricky written on Tuesday 26th of September 2023
I have a grandparent living here. The flats themselves are furnished and presented well, but in terms of support its diabolical to be honest.
Everyone living there complains, and I can understand why - as the manager/warden is never ever available (always upstairs). I've visited numerous times and only ever seen her once?
I also have some question in relation to financial issues too - residents are billed £20 for newspapers regularly, notes left undated on relatives side requesting money be posted? Why is she not signing, Where's the proof of invoices and payment schedules ? This is 2023 so things should be done properly with proper receipts and petty cash books - As a relative of a vulnerable person who needs support to manage finances, this makes me feel extremely uneasy.
There are also people struggling to care for themselves with no action being taken to review their 'needs', safeguard, or arrange assessments to review their support needs.
All in all, standards of accommodation are fairly good, but it terms of support - 1* (non existent, not really sure what her job role is as doesn't do anything other than morning welfare calls). So how can you claim 'help is on hand when needed' when there is never ever anyone on reception? How are you going to meet your duty of care if there's an incident etc ? How does my nan, or anyone else (including those unlucky enough to not have relatives) get the help they need when it's non-existent?.
